Closer to the sky – Cedars International Festival 2015

Going back to work on a Monday after the weekend is always a pain in the a** especially during summer where the weekends are packed with: events, festivals, activities, parties and lots of fun. I’m sure, like me, you are benefiting as much as you can from the season; Your schedule is full with beach parties, till-dawn clubbing, festivals, weddings, weddings, and more weddings….

This weekend a friend of ours was visiting from Australia, so we had an excuse to be tourists as well. Besides all our outings, we planned to attend the Cedars International Festival which is relaunching after 50 years.

I’m sure you’ve heard lots of ads about it since it was under the patronage of the Tourism Minister Michel Pharaon and MP Setrida Geagea; I’m guessing that you thought the festival will have a political character, well it relatively didn’t.

Yesterday was the opening night, we were so excited to watch Wael Kfoury, Elissa, and Michel Fadel performing; it was my first time that I see them live and honestly it was over my expectations.

Let me start by telling you first about the amazing weather in “Arz”, a cool fresh air opposing to the heat in Beirut, we even wore jackets!

The stage setting was in a shape of a giant cedar and the opening fireworks were intense.

Michel Fadel opened up the night; he mesmerized us with a medley of international and oriental beats.
Then, here comes Elissa, dressed up in a pink long gown and a sense of humor.
Finally, Wael Kfoury wrapped up the event with a breathtaking performance; his voice was really captivating.

The event lasted for four hours, silly me! I thought it was going to be a two-hour thing since the tickets’ starting prices were 25$.

If you haven’t been there, you probably watched it on the TV, if not check the pics below.

I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was curious what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet savvy so I’m not 100% sure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly apeecpiatrd. Cheers
